BREAKING: Donald Trump tells the story of assassination attempt in emotional, unifying RNC address

As Donald Trump spoke to the audience at the Republican National Convention, his message was one of unity, and he gave his first account of the assassination attempt on his life.

Trump walked on stage to Lee Greenwood singing "God Bless the USA" and then began his speech. He gave an account of the assassination attempt on his life from Saturday. "There was blood pouring everywhere but in a certain way I felt very safe because I had God on my side," Trump said of the experience.

Trump described how the bullet flew through his ear and how he could hear the sound of the bullet flying by his head. He added repeatedly, "I'm not supposed to be here."

"The amazing thing is that prior to the shot, if I had not moved my head at that very last instant the assassin's bullet would have perfectly hit its mark and I would not be here tonight, we would not be together,” Trump added.
