Elizabeth Warren says Biden is doing ‘everything he can’ to stop border crisis he created

Senator Elizabeth Warren defended President Biden's handling of border and immigration issues during a combative interview on ABC with Martha Raddatz this weekend.

Raddatz highlighted the significant increase in border apprehensions under Biden's administration, noting that from February 2021 to May 2024, there have been nearly 7 million border apprehensions. This number starkly contrasts with the just over 2 million apprehensions during Donald Trump's entire first time in office.

“What did the president do wrong?” Raddatz asked after presenting these figures.

Warren refuted the notion that Biden had mishandled the situation. Instead, she blamed Republicans for obstructing a congressional bill on border security.

Raddatz countered by pointing out that Trump also lacked congressional immigration reform during his first term, yet the number of attempted border crossings was significantly lower.

Warren reiterated that President Biden is “doing what he can with the resources available to him” and emphasized his efforts to support families.
