Former President Bill Clinton Hospitalized: What We Know

Former President Bill Clinton, 78, was admitted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital on Monday for testing and observation after developing a fever, according to Angel Ureña, his deputy chief of staff.

It is not an emergency situation, NBC News first reported.

Newsweek has emailed the Clinton Foundation for additional comment on Monday evening.

Why It Matters

Since leaving office in 2001, the two-term Democratic president has encountered several health concerns.

In 2004, Clinton underwent a quadruple bypass operation at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and returned to the same hospital in 2010 for another heart procedure, during which two stents were inserted into a coronary artery.

Clinton responded by embracing a largely vegan diet that saw him lose weight and improved health.
