Karine Jean-Pierre’s Attempted April Fools Joke Goes Awry

To the delight of no one, Karine Jean-Pierre channeled her inner comedian (intentionally, this time) on April Fools’ day at the beginning of one of her propaganda briefings.

A grinning KJP opened “So President Biden is scheduled to announce he is revoking the Hatch Act. So as a gift to all of you, so now I can actually take all your questions about 2024!”

The sort of groans and fake laughs you’d expect when someone cracks a “dad joke” could immediately be heard.

“No? I thought you would love that? All right. OK. April Fools, April Fools, April Fools, it is April 1st.” KJP said, attempting to save face.

The Hatch Act of 1939 prohibits civil service employees in the executive branch from engaging in political activity. Back in December, the independent Office of Special Counsel warned KJP that she violated the Hatch Act when she slammed “Maga Republicans’” budget plans, but decided against any disciplinary action.
