Ohio State Trophy Falls Apart in JD Vance's Hands During White House Visit

Ohio State University's College Football National Championship trophy seemed to fall off its stand just as Vice President JD Vance lifted the hardware up for photo opportunities outside the White House on Monday.

The moment came during the Buckeyes' trip to the White House to meet President Donald Trump. Vance is an Ohio native and a 2007 Ohio State graduate. He earned a degree in political science and philosophy from OSU before going on to attend Yale Law School.

Newsweek reached out to Ohio State University for comment via email on Monday.

The Context

Ohio State University defeated Notre Dame 34-23 in January to secure its ninth national championship.

The last time the Buckeyes won the national title was in 2014. The team was invited to the White House by then-President Barack Obama in 2015.
